چکیده

We present a new Integrated Finite Element Neural Network framework (I-FENN), with the objective to accelerate numerical solution of nonlinear computational mechanics problems. leverage swift predictive capability neural networks (NNs) and we embed them inside finite element stiffness function, compute element-level state variables their derivatives within nonlinear, iterative solution. This process is conducted jointly conventional methods that involve shape functions: NN receives input data resembles material point deformation its output used construct field such as Jacobian matrix residual vector. Here introduce I-FENN continuum damage analysis quasi-brittle materials, establish non-local gradient-based which operates at cost local approach. First, develop physics informed network (PINN) resemble gradient model then train offline. The learns predict equivalent strain each point, well derivative respect strain. Then, PINN integrated in definition conducts transformation, whereas two outputs are carried out solver, until convergence achieved. resulting method bears approach, but ensures mesh-independent results diffused profile. As result, proposed tackles vital drawbacks both method, respectively being mesh-dependence additional cost. showcase through series examples efficiency generalization context damage, discuss future outlook. training code associated files have been made publicly available online, enable reproducibility our results.

Convergence of non-local finite element energies for fracture mechanics

Abstract. Usually smeared crack techniques are based on the following features: the fracture is represented by means of a band of finite elements and by a softening constitutive law of damage type. Often these methods are implemented with nonlocal operators which control the localization effects and reduce the mesh bias. We consider a non-local smeared crack energy defined for a finite element ...

‌Progressive Damage Analysis of Laminated Composites using Continuum Damage Mechanics

In this paper, progressive damage and global failure of composite laminates under quasi-static, monotonic loading are investigated using 3D continuum damage mechanics. For this purpose, a finite element program has been developed using an eight-node 2D layered element including layer-wise plate theory. Damage analysis of a single orthotropic layer under various uniform in-plane and transverse l...

Neural network for constitutive modelling in finite element analysis

Finite element method has, in recent years, been widely used as a powerful tool in analysis of engineering problems. In this numerical analysis, the behavior of the actual material is approximated with that of an idealized material that deforms in accordance with some constitutive relationships. Therefore, the choice of an appropriate constitutive model, which adequately describes the behavior ...
